Volunteers bring essential services to the Ventura County Rescue Mission and Lighthouse for Women & Children. Each year, thousands of people offer their time, talent, and goodness of heart to help make a difference in the lives of the hurting and the homeless.

We have received help from volunteers of all ages and walks of life. Children are encouraged to participate in mission volunteer activities if accompanied by an adult.
Becoming a volunteer is easy. All you need to do is provide a completed Volunteer Application and present a photo identification when you get here. You will also need to attend a Volunteer Orientation.
Yes. Volunteering is a great group activity for your church, school, business or club. Some companies will make a monetary donation to the mission for every hour their employees donate to mission service projects. Please check with your human resources department at your workplace to see if they have a volunteer rewards program. Church youth groups and school groups teach values of community service to their students through volunteerism.
Yes. We provide the training and equipment you need to safely perform your service.
We need a lot of volunteer help for our holiday events. But that’s not the only time we need help. We provide services to the poor and homeless 365 days a year. There are plenty of opportunities to serve throughout the year.
At the Ventura County Rescue Mission and Lighthouse, there is a place for everyone with time to give. Opportunities include meal preparation, meal service, clean up, decorating, gift wrapping, greeters, sorting and stocking food donations, tutors, counselors, facility maintenance, clerical, and more.
