In The News

Even if you don’t know Emily, you know you love her because she is the person behind many of the groovy home products at Target. She is also an HGTV host and internationally recognized interior designer and blogger. When she heard that we were in the midst of building our 90-bed shelter, and could really use some help making that house a home, she hit the ground running.

Emily has launched a campaign to help fundraise and furnish Home Again. “My goal is to design the large 16,000 SQF home so it feels like one big giant, warm hug,” says Emily. “It will feel like a home that will inspire guests to rebuild their life, full of the tools and people who dedicate their lives to supporting that.”

Growing up in a family with 6 kids and a constant stream of foster children, Emily knows first-hand the value of a stable place to call home and that is something that she would like to help further here with Home Again. “For many of us, the idea of homelessness is heartbreaking but it is still abstract, until we are really forced to confront it. Life is expensive in L.A. and for many folks who have fallen on hard times, their cars or the street are the only option.”
Over the coming weeks we will showcase the progress of Home Again on social media so be sure to follow the progress daily. And of course we are excited to have Emily on our team as we make our ‘house’ a ‘home’ and we would love it if you would join us too. Round up a few work or community friends and come by for a tour. We’ll have lunch and see just how you can be a part of the momentum!

Home Again tours are offered the first and third Thursday of the month. Please call Rebecca Wells at 818-785-4476 to reserve your tour! You can also email Rebecca at rwells@erescuemission.org.
