The Ventura County Rescue Mission serves the poor and homeless, offering hope to thousands of hurting people. It is the longest standing year-round shelter for homeless men in Ventura County. In 1972, the mission began providing food, shelter, and clothing to the needy as the Oxnard Rescue Mission. In 1989, its name changed to the Ventura County Rescue Mission to better align with the expansion of services countywide. In 1998, the mission completed a new 125 bed facility to house its emergency shelter and residential substance abuse recovery program.
